Prescriptions

The best way to request your prescription is with the NHS app. You may also request them online with Patient Access, please speak to our reception team to verify your identify before attempting to access this service.

Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions will be ready for collection 48 hours after your request has been received.

You may request a repeat prescription by:

  • Using the NHS App, or your preferred online service.
  • Post, or leaving a written request at Reception.
  • Using the request form on your previous prescription.
  • Via this website.
  • Request via a nominated Pharmacy.

Please do not telephone for repeat prescriptions.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

Current charges are:

  • The current prescription charge is £9.65 per item.
  • A three monthly PPC is £31.25.
  • A 12-month certificate is £111.60.
  • A 12-month Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) certificate is £19.30

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or 12 or more items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
